Parents, there is no rush to take algebra. Many schools are emphasizing advancing students to higher math, but if the young adult’s brain isn’t ready for algebra 1, teaching it in 7th or 8th grade doesn’t make sense.  The best answer to this question is to find the appropriate level of instruction for the individual and teach in that zone of proximal development.
